"Do you think they'll ever work together?"
"Do you think they'll ever work together? The churches?"
That's the question I was asked by a man working at Memorial Hall in Greenville (pictured above). I told him, "That's the idea! The churches throughout Darke County are coming together here on March 3rd for a night of music and worship!"
Sadly, the Church has gained a reputation of being divided and competitive. We joke (though unfortunately it has happened) about fighting over the color of carpets, and our egos often make us jealous of the growing church or successful program across town.
There is a better way through Christ! A way where churches begin to take action on the belief that we are unified in Christ, and that God has called His people to work together to declare His glory among the nations and make disciples of all nations. We are encouraged to to see this work actually begin to happen! On Wednesday we had a great Pastors Lunch for Declare Greenville, with a number of Darke-county pastors present. Following are some reflections from Emily Schulte, worship leader at Castine Church of the Brethren.
"As the local pastors of Darke County gathered on Wednesday I couldn't help but be overwhelmed with emotion for what God is going to do within the city of Greenville on March 3rd. As we entered into a time of worship the Holy Spirit was so evident that I believe it stirred something within us. A desire to grow together, to be united as a church body, and to serve together in the community. Not only is this event going to be a powerful, Spirit-led night, I believe that this is only the beginning of a revival that is happening here within the county as well as across the state of Ohio and beyond. I find that so many people crave to experience the Holy Spirit on a daily basis. We want just a taste of what Heaven is going to be like. Worship is one of the closest ways to experience just that. I feel alive when I worship through music, and it is my heart to pour that onto others as they enter in with me. These events are only the tip of what God can do. Declare is the start of a revival worldwide and it is an honor to not only witness it take place but to be a part of it!"

Last week we also had a great meeting in preparation for Declare Troy with Ken Siler, Arena Director at Hobart Arena in Troy. We're excited to have Josh Harman of Troy Christian Church head up the logistics for this event! He shares his anticipation below....
"This past week, I had the opportunity to join the rest of the Declare Troy team as we met with leadership at Hobart Arena, to get a lay of the land and to talk details about Declare Troy coming to Hobart. We had a great time touring all the new renovations, making it easy to picture how God could use this place in a big way to gather worshipers together for a night honoring Him.
My wife and I had the opportunity to join this team for the first time last year for Declare Troy on the levee, and it was an awesome night of worship, which brought together people from all over our community. We are looking forward to seeing that expand, as we try to bring even more of the community together. And, I have to admit, the accessibility and “come-rain-or-shine-ness” of Hobart Arena are some very nice benefits as well!
There are obviously a TON more details to be ironed out in the coming weeks, but one thing is clear- wherever and however Declare Troy happens, the intention remains the same- to make the name of Jesus known to our community, and to rally anyone who will join us to spend a Friday night in May gathered together to declare His glory in Troy, Miami County, and beyond."
